Dave Is Back

It’s December. 2014. And the last time I posted on this blog was January 2013. That’s a pretty big gap during which I was, I assure you, extremely busy but silent on here.

I’d like to change that and begin posting on this blog again, but with some changes. Yes, I will still talk about digital marketing. But I will also be talking about some other topics that interest me and adding categorization so you can easily pick which topic you are interested in.

The new topics will be:

  • Spirituality
  • Science
  • Politics

LinkedIn Answers Going Away

I was disappointed to get an email the other day from LinkedIn saying that they are closing down their Answers section. I can’t say I was a great expert on it, but I did enjoy writing the occasional answer and I thought the questions asked there were better phrased, more professional, and easier to answer than elsewhere. Now, LinkedIn is certainly able to make this decision, and maybe they are right to do so, but I will still miss it.

And on that point, I’d like to talk about some of the question and answer sites out there and how they can help you establish yourself, your personal brand, and your professional brand. There are people with questions out there; answer them! (more…)

NRA: What Not To Do In a PR Crisis

The target is on your reputation.

The magnitude and horror of what happened in Newtown, CT, several weeks ago has yet to be fully understood by America and the world. It’s still too close, too big, and just too awful. And yet, there is no question that actions need to be taken, now. The event highlights a crisis, one for our culture, one for our species, one for our social and judicial policies and our politicians. And for one particular organization, it is a different kind of crisis, a PR crisis. That organization, of course, is the NRA.
